Climate notes for August 4th 2023

This week I found myself having several conversations with friends in a heated manner. Me being the heated one. Having to explain to 40 year old men that climate != weather, and that just because Ireland is relatively temperate does not mean things will be fine here. Frustrating is the word du jour.

I also had a weird idea to build a collective of companies that are focused on climate impact. Bottom-rung are companies that care and are investing, middle are companies with specific goals or products aimed at climate impact and then the top tier are companies who are solely focused on climate. The idea is to bring these companies together, as a non-profit org, with a quid-pro-quo of having a badge of honour that allows customers to embrace the brand for the work it does. I've done this a good bit with the Irish EV Association over the last few years, so I do know how much of an uphill battle it can be. But I've legitimately found nothing that's quite the alliance I'm considering. Want to help me? Drop me an email.
